Department of Economics

Development of human resources who can view society from
a broader perspective and have strong abilities to solve problems

Economics involves a wide range of financial factors, from household to international levels. The Department of Economics offers different courses to help students develop practical abilities to correlate information regarding different issues from an economic perspective. The Department of Economics also teaches studentsand to view society in a comprehensive manner so as to discover certain rules and apply such rules to the resolution of social issues. A variety of programs are offered that focus on first-hand experience: course programs dealing with various socio-economic aspects, workshops in small groups to encourage creative thinking, factory visits and internship programs to provide students with a wide range of opportunities for first-hand business experience. Through these programs, we help students develop practical and flexible skills based on strong knowledge of macro- and microeconomics.

Department of Regional Policy

Department of Regional Policy

Development of intelligence for practical action with
emphasis on frontlines

The 21st century is an era of "regional communities." In fact, deregulation is ongoing in Japan to promote decentralization, and efforts have been made in the EU and other parts of the world to establish better community-based societies. Set up in 2002, this Department aims to develop human resources who can identify, predict and resolve various issues regarding the promotion of such region-based communities. The Department offers four enrollment models to meet different student career needs. Fieldwork is encouraged so that students can learn practical skills in thinking, acting and dealing with challenges in real life situations.
