Mission

Focusing on Close Communication with Individual Students, We Work to Educate Flexible and Creative Businesspersons.

Osaka University of Economics began 75 years ago when Naniwa Commercial High School, the Universityfs forerunner, opened in 1932. After some organizational changes, OUE was established in 1949. During its long history, OUE has developed a unique tradition as a higher educational institution specializing in economics and business administration. Today, with seven Departments under four Faculties (Economics, Business Administration, Information Management and Human Sciences), OUE is endeavoring toward further enhancement as a comprehensive university of social and humanity studies.

While maintaining the principle of gfreedom and harmonyh set down by the founder, Dr. Iwao Kokusho, OUE has developed and offered education programs based on the idea of gpractical and human education,h to help students acquire pragmatic social knowledge and skills as well as sense and morality as good citizens. The goal of practical and human education is to develop excellent human resources with vigor and motivation for further improving their knowledge. To facilitate education based on practical human learning, OUE has focused on experience-based education, such as internship, fieldwork, factory visits and overseas learning programs. Emphasis has also been placed on enhancing interactive communication in class by holding small classes and seminars.

OUE has taken various initiatives to make itself more open to business, community and international society. Based on OUEfs partnership with overseas organizations and universities, projects are currently ongoing that include programs of student exchange with overseas universities, accepting researchers from abroad, and conducting joint research with overseas organizations.

Building on the strengths and advantages we have developed as a university specializing in economics and business administration, we will work to further evolve OUE as a higher educational institution that nurtures professionals in various areas.
